Finding Her the Engagement Ring of Her Dreams and Within Your Budget

Many emotions and feelings surround the purchase of an engagement ring. When a man buys an engagement ring, he wants to get his significant other a ring that is exactly what she wanted (maybe even more!). He's looking for a laugh, a smile, shock (hopefully positive), and even tears of joy upon the presentation of the ring. With a little finesse and some careful listening, the night of the proposal can be a night to remember. When planning the proposal, the surprise factor always increases the response. Be sure to ask questions about what she is looking for early on (even one or more years in advance can be helpful). Discreetly note the information she gives you as time goes on. What is undesirable is to be near the time of the proposal and in the dark as to what women want in a ring. This usually leads to either rushing and buying something she'll hate for years, or asking penetrating, blatantly obvious questions which will clue her off that a ring purchase is imminent. Don't be afra...

It doesn't do anyone any favors if you include your sister with whom you have a difficult relationship, and leave out your...

Choosing an Ecofriendly Wedding Ring

Just as the sable mink, raccoon and silver fox fur coats were popular garments, and symbols of status in recent times, so has jewelery in all its forms been iconic of wealth and privilege. But, eco-friendly movements across the globe have gradually, but systematically ensured that animals pelts are no longer acceptable. The happy result is that we do not see the offending garments worn in public as much as they used to be. The connection of these animal pelt garments to the destruction of animal life is self-evident – so the process of the elimination of the practice has been relatively swift. But it is still a major problem, and those who are in any way concerned should not relax their vigilance. However, when we shift our focus to the use of jewelry, and specifically the wedding ring, the immediate connection to it’s not being eco-friendly appears, at first blush, to be somewhat tenuous, even non-existent. Indeed, the concept of an “eco-friendly” wedding rin...

6 Steps To A Fabulous Rehearsal Dinner

Rehearsal dinners give everyone involved with the wedding celebration a chance to prepare for the big day while relaxing with friends and family. They can be small formal dinners or large backyard barbecues. The most important thing is that the event is representative of the bride and groom. Rehearsal dinner etiquette is a bit more relaxed. Couples are not expected to follow many rules when planning the dinner. Here are six (6) general suggestions that should be considered when hosting the event: 1. Discuss the rehearsal dinner with the groom's parents since tradition dictates they host the event. Some couples choose not to follow this tradition and opt to host the dinner themselves as a way to thank their families and the wedding participants. This is a great alternative, but make sure to explain your decision to the groom's parents to avoid hurt feelings. 2. Plan the dinner for the evening before the wedding immediately following the ceremony rehearsal. Modern Weddings: All the Frills, Frugally

The wedding industry is a multi-billion dollar industry, and when it’s your turn to say “I Do” it’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking you need to have the biggest and the best wedding. My advice? Save it for the honeymoon. The Dress At the end of the day, no one is going to care if you were in the $99 David’s Bridal special or the $5000 custom-made gown with real diamonds. It may take a little more time in the dressing room to find the perfect dress for your body, but off the rack – or if you’re really trying to save – renting – is one of the best ways to save money. Saving money on the veil is even easier. Rather than paying $200-500 for a store-bought veil, buy the materials for less than $40 and make one. Flowers Whether you work with a florist or put together your own floral arrangements, consider silk. Silk arrangements can be used later to adorn your new home. If you love the idea of real roses, save them for the bri...

This is my experience of a Russian wedding, there are various Russian wedding traditions but this will give you an idea of what to expect if you are ever invited to a Russian wedding in Moscow, Russia. This celebration continued for a full day but others can be 2 or 3 days long! On the second day the close family gathered for a celebratory dinner in a Moscow restaurant. The wedding day begins with the wedding group composed of close friends and family meeting either at the bride's house or in a hotel. The groom is asked to prove how much he wants the bride by performing various games and tests for example jumping over a ribbon across the door or doing the limbo under the ribbon. Some of the games played include the groom being presented with a bunch of inflated balloons each of which contains small note. The groom has to pick the balloon which contains the note saying he can have the bride. Each balloon he picks he has to "pay" for (with photocopied notes) and then pop the b...

The Wedding Day Should Be About the Bride

Going to a wedding is a great time to show off those new shoes and that little dressy number you just bought right?  The important thing to remember is the star of the show...the Bride!  Looking good is always important to us women, even if it is at someone else's wedding. There are ground rules. This rule should never be forgotten! It's rude and unforgivable to look better than the bride! This is especially true if you are attending a casual wedding or in a situation of second marriage where the bride may not be wearing white.  Even if the bride is not wearing white, you as the guest should refrain from wearing that saucy little white dress you bought for a special occasion this summer; this is certainly not the occasion. Dressing for a wedding can be a tricky project, especially if you've never attended such a ceremony in the past.  It's a wedding and you want to look beautiful, but it is important to not over shadow the stars for the day; this goes for me...

When a woman becomes pregnant her body, face and hair changes so that her usual hairstyles may not look right. For example a French twist worn on a pregnant bride with a round face will look great, while another pregnant bride with a square face may wear the same French twist, which may make this classic wedding hairstyle look horrible. Gosh, choosing a wedding hairstyle for pregnant brides/bridesmaids can get very frustrating at times, especially if the one that's pregnant wants to draw attention away from her big pregnant belly. Don't worry, though; there are plenty of wedding hairstyles that will draw attention away from your tummy or should I say camouflage the belly somewhat. Now you have to ask yourself a good common question:  who can you trust to help you choose your wedding hairstyle to help make you feel m...

Have you been dreaming about your wedding since you were 8? Then this article is not for you. On average, couples in the United States spend about $20,000 for their wedding! But for many of us getting married in our late twenties and older, we don’t feel the need for all the expensive frills. Here's how I managed to spend just one-tenth of the average wedding cost. I had no idea where to begin! I had a friend trying to help me plan things, but we had so many contrasting ideas that I ended up not using most of them. I'...
